Shaping the Future Leaders of Boeing Zhoushan Completion Center, One Workshop at a Time

On October 23, Boeing Zhoushan Completion Center successfully conducted the second CEO-led leadership training session. This training was personally delivered by CEO Dermot Swan to 16 mid-level managers, focusing on the theme of " Communication." Previously, on June 5, Dermot Swan had conducted the first leadership training session for 18 mid-level managers, with the theme of "Cross-Departmental Collaboration."

The leadership training program led by the CEO is a medium - to long-term project. As an important component of the company's talent strategy development plan, the project is launched in 2025 and will be extended to 2026, with instructors expanding from the CEO to senior management of the company.

Compared with external leadership programs, this series stands out through two advantages: it is tailor-made and precisely delivered. To zero in on real management pain points, the HR training team began a needs-assessment six months in advance, locking the topics via in-depth interviews. CEO Dermot Swan further enriches the sessions with his global aerospace-manufacturing experience, offering incisive, actionable feedback on issues that emerge during the simulation exercises.

All sessions follow an interactive workshop format. In the first module on "Cross- Departmental Collaboration", participants experienced the challenges of inter-departmental teamwork through an “aircraft delivery” simulation game; in the second module on “communication”, they practiced structured communication and situational-leadership models with carefully scripted role-plays. This hands-on, interaction-centered approach sparked reflection and resonance: “practical tips exchanged during the games were immediately applicable. Practice beats preaching, and insights drawn from experience lodge far deeper than anything poured in by lecture.”

Looking ahead, Completion Center will remain committed to career-development training, sharpening the management skills of every team and laying a solid talent foundation for the high-quality growth of the company.
