Boeing 'Soaring with Your Dream' aviation science and education program launches in Zhoushan

On July 21, the Boeing "Soaring with Your Dream" aviation science and education program was launched at the Boeing 737 Completion and Delivery Centre in Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province. Students from 22 rural primary schools across the country participated in the event.

Revitalizing a new perspective, science popularization classrooms move into aviation factory.

In order to help students understand the mysteries hidden in large aircraft, experts from the completion and delivery center shared courses on " The secrets behind aircraft painting" and " The black technology of aircraft cabin", which introduced aircraft painting, interior installation process, and various new technologies hidden in the cabin.

Interaction in popularization sciencecourses

In addition to the fun courses, site-tour visit is another highlight of this event. Under the guidance of the staff, the students visited the three core buildings of the Boeing 737 completion and delivery center: the completion hangar, the paint hangar and the delivery center office building. A total of about 5 football field size of the huge hangar factory, and various highly technological mechanical operating devices, have made students broaden their horizons and marvel repeatedly.

The event also invited experts from Pratt & Whitney and Textron, member companies of AmCham China’s US-China Aviation Cooperation Program (ACP), to give students a more dimensional understanding of the aviation industry through the courses “Working principle and future development of aero-engine” and “Aviation is actually fun”.

Meeting friends through dreams, rural youth played around the mark flight.

In a bid to promote students from various regions to exchange flight skills and interact with each other, the " Soaring with your dream " program established a remote invitational competition in 2017, which has been held continuously until its sixth session. In December of last year, the preliminary round of the sixth remote invitational competition was decided through the form of live connection. After several rounds of fierce competition, 35 students won tickets to advance to the finals with their outstanding performance in front of the screen.

In the finals, the students competed fiercely.

Entering the final stage, the players from all over the country bravely fought with a full and composed spirit, striving to reach the top. In the "Blow Molding Paper airplane race ", an interesting and technical competition item, they accurately controlled the flight angle and posture of the model aircraft in a limited time and strived to achieve the optimal solution of the encircle radius and flight trajectory, which fully demonstrated a solid training foundation and good adaptability.

Yang Yixin, a student from Nancungou elementary school in Gansu province, expressed her feelings of participating in activities: I opened the door to a new world in Zhoushan. The science popularization courses in the morning were very interesting, such as cabin black technology, turbine knowledge, and little experimental sessions. Winning the first prize in the finals also surprised me. I hope that in the future, I will have the opportunity to participate in such meaningful activities and constantly discover more possibilities for my dreams.
